Welcome to my practice.

I am so glad you are here! My name is Michaelyn Woofter, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the District of Columbia and Maryland. I have been supporting families and individuals through life’s challenges for over twenty years.

I have dedicated my practice to helping adolescents, and adults, navigate anxiety, adhd, and executive function. I am passionate about supporting parents struggling with prenatal and postnatal loss, anxiety and depression. My practice is also committed to helping college students with the academic, social, and emotional transition to university life. I have an affinity for working with those suffering suicide loss. I understand the issues my practice specializes in because I have dealt with them on a personal level. I know where you are coming from.

I have been in the field of social work since 1989 when I received a Bachelor of Arts in Justice from The American University. In 1994, I earned my Master of Social Work degree from The Catholic University of America.

My life experience and professional background have led me to be trauma informed and see things from an attachment point of view. I am well versed in crisis management. As a clinical social worker, I come from a strengths based perspective and incorporate elements of mindfulness, physical activity and cognitive behavioral therapy in my work with clients. I am holistic in my approach and solution focused. Together, we will develop new strategies, and implement coping skills. We will collaborate to achieve your life goals and vision.
